Join Sidewalk Detroit as it celebrates the inaugural Eco-Artist-in-Residence Halima Cassell’s installation at Eliza Howell Park. The event will include an artist talk, art activities, performances and food. Please register in advance.
Observed: Hypervisibility and Reclamation
"Observed: Hypervisibility and Reclamation" examines the contradictions between surveillance and safety, highlighting how law enforcement, governments, businesses, and institutions use digital and biometric technologies to monitor us, and our community responses and resistance. The exhibition features artists Tawana Petty, Halima Afi Cassells, Kate Levy, Shanna Merola, en sawyer, and poets from around the world.

The Oakland Avenue Artist Collective
The Oakland Avenue Artists Coalition (OAAC) is an artistic, educational and civic not for profit organization. OAAC seeks to create a platform for Detroit's multi-generational, creative community in artistic work. OAAC also engages and encourages neighborhood youth in positive self-expression.
The ONE Mile Project
The ONE Mile Project was a collaborative initiative in Detroit's North End, winning an Artplace America grant for its dynamic installations and neighborhood revitalization along Oakland Avenue, where I contributed as a visual arts curator, magazine co-editor, and outreach coordinator.
